Getting KnownHosts.KnownHostsFile or ServerValidation from application manifest

Question

I am using WinAutomation 9.2.4.5905 which uses edtFTPnetPRO.dll for SFTP connections.
I am getting the error "System.Exception: No known hosts provided - use SecureFTPConnection.KnownHosts to add some (safe), or set ServerValidation to None (unsafe)" but there is no way to set these properties in WinAutomation.
Since WinAutomation is not supported anymore, I wonder if I can set any of those properties in the appSettings section in the application manifest instead in order to force edtFTPnetPRO to use those settings?

These properties are available for XML serialization, but I don't know if WinAutomation supports this for initialising connections. However, there must be some way of setting the known hosts or the ServerValidation property, otherwise it could never have worked.
