Muiltiple Listener ports for SFTP?

by erousseau » Tue Jun 08, 2010 1:00 am

Is it possible to have more than one SFTP listener port? We are using the standard TCP port 22, but have a request for a system to do SFTP transfers to a different non-standard SFTP port. I'd like to add this additional port without removing the default. Can this be done?

No, you can't do that currently. We'll certainly put this down as a feature request though - not that difficult to do.

In fact if you were willing to run two instances of the server (would have to register them as two different services and have separate configurations), you could actually do this now with a bit of tweaking.

Would that require a second license? What is the process of registering a second service and configuration?

CompleteFTP is purchased on a per machine basis, so it wouldn't require another license.

I think before I post something on how you might achieve this I'd better try it out myself ... will follow up soon.

Sorry we haven't yet replied - doing this as 2 services isn't quite as easy as I had hoped.

The best solution is really to allow extra ports in the existing service. We'll discuss how best to achieve this. But no immediate solution. But there certainly seems to be no reason why additional ports can't be added.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing how to open additional ports.
