This organization's certificate has been revoked

So you've loaded your SSL certificate obtained from your CA and are testing HTTPS. You start IE, and go to https://localhost.

IE gives the message "This organization's certificate has been revoked", and you can't view the page at all. What's going on?

Well, IE has very strict checking for HTTPS. If the SSL certificate's common name does not match the hostname of the server, IE will block access to the page on CompleteFTP. On a test machine, this will usually be the case.

To view the page (and the error message), you need to disable revocation in the Advanced Settings of IE's Internet Options. You need to disable two settings, "Check for publisher's certificate revocation" and "Check for server certificate revocation".

Once revocation is disabled, you will be given the option of continuing to the page - and the actual error message will be shown: "The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address."

You won't get this problem when you deploy CompleteFTP on a machine where the hostname matches the certificate's common name.

You don't see this error in Chrome.
